- Delft University of Technology continues development of its pure pee-to-peer BitTorrent client, Tribler
- The main goal in developing the Tribler client is to have a resulting BitTorrent client that is independent of a central server
- In describing the team's efforts, Dr Pouwelse - lead on the project - said, "We simply don’t like unreliable servers. With Tribler we have achieved zero-seconds downtime over the past six years, all because we don’t rely on shaky foundations such as DNS, web servers or search portals"
