    Star West Coast forward Mark LeCras has been sent for scans after injuring his knee at training on Thursday.

    LeCras was assisted off the field by two trainers after suffering the injury, which is almost certain to rule him out of Sunday's NAB Cup games against Fremantle and Essendon at Patersons Stadium.

    A West Coast spokesman said the club wouldn't speculate on the seriousness of the injury until they received the results of scans on Friday.

    But with West Coast's season opener against the Bulldogs just over six weeks away, LeCras could face a race against time to be fit for selection.

    Earlier this week, Worsfold predicted LeCras would spend a large chunk of the time in the midfield this pre-season after building his fitness over the summer.

    "He's had an outstanding pre-season," Worsfold said.

    "We'll definitely, in the pre-season, give him some good runs through the midfield but he'll also get a lot of runs as a forward.

    "It's part of his development as a footballer to see where he sits and what's going to make him the best player he can be but also the best team we can be."

    Fellow stars Daniel Kerr, Beau Waters, Mitch Brown, Matt Rosa and Andrew Embley will also be out of action this weekend as they build up their fitness.
